With two bank holidays in the month, you’d be mistaken for thinking there isn’t that much going on in May. Down here in Canary Wharf, things are starting to heat up (both figuratively and literally) with some of the events lined up.

This month sees gigs galore at The o2, plenty of conferences at the ExCel, and comic book heroes taking over the area at the end of the month. Whether you’re here for events like MCM Comic Con or are staying with us at Fraser Place Canary Wharf, you’ll want to know what’s going on in Canary Wharf throughout May.

And here is some more information on the events taking place this May in Canary Wharf:

    • Date: All Month
    • Venue: Columbus Courtyard

Now it did kick off in the middle of April, but the weather is always unreliable until we get into May, making now the ideal time when you have an hour free to go and play minigolf at Columbus Courtyard. It’s one of those events that started without much fanfare but now is a staple in the calendar from now until the end of Summer.

    Dub London

    • Date: 8th May
    • Venue: Museum of London Docklands

The start of an inspiring exhibit at the museum, Dub London is an exploration of one of the city’s most exciting subcultures.

It’s a chance to see the roots Dub has in London, why we’ve taken to it so much, and it’s probably the only time you’ll be in a museum which happens to have its own bespoke record shop.

    WWE Friday Night Smackdown

    • Date: 8th May
    • Venue: The o2

Whether you’re a fan of Daniel Bryan, love to boo Roman Reigns, or simply think that the ideal gig on a Friday night in London is one where you can walk with Elias, the atmosphere is electric anytime WWE is in town to record a TV show.

This show will be exciting as we’re only a few weeks out from another incredible Wrestlemania, with superstars advertised to appear including The Fiend (Bray Wyatt), The Usos, The New Day, The Miz and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

    • Date: 14th & 15th May
    • Venue: The o2

The Melbourne troupe have been together since 1983, and it seems as the years go by, their fan base continues to swell. They’re playing two nights at the o2, so expect a lot of brooding and the slightest chance of something special for Peaky Blinders fans.

    Alexandra Burke

    • Date: 12th  to 15th May
    • Venue: Boisdale

It’s hard to believe that it was back in 2008 that Alexandra Burke won the X-Factor. Since then, she’s sold over a million albums, become a mainstay on the West End stage and almost won Strictly Come Dancing. This is a rare opportunity to watch her perform in a very intimate setting.

    Sunday Jazz Lunch

    • Date: 10th May
    • Venue: Boisdale

Sundays are usually lovely and quiet in this part of London, and there’s no way to make it feel any smoother than bagging a spot at the legendary Jazz lunch in Boisdale.

It only takes place once a month, and the three-course meal runs over 4 hours to give a laid back restaurant atmosphere.

    IFSEC 2020

    • Date: 11th to 20th  May
    • Venue: ExCeL London

One of the longest-running conferences to take place at ExCeL, IFSEC is back for the 47th time as the leading UK integrated security exhibition. Every aspect of security is featured at the conference, with a big focus on personal home security, drone usage and perimeter protection.

    Dua Lipa

    • Date: 26th & 27th May
    • Venue: The o2

We’re writing this before her sophomore album Future Nostalgia has been released (and most likely got to No.1) but there’s no denying Dua Lipa is one of the most popular pop stars in the world right now.

This back to back run at the o2 will see thousands go crazy for hits like New Rules, Be The One & Physical.

    MCM London Comic-Con

    • Date: 29th to 31st May
    • Venue: ExCel London

Arguably the only time of year it is completely normal to see Captain America, Chewbacca and Dr Who all walking through reception at Fraser Place Canary Wharf, the end of the month marks the return of the MCM London Comic-Con.

For three days the convention centre welcomes fanatics to meet some of the biggest names in movies, comics and games, along with booths and special events.

    Whitesnake, Foreigner + Europe

    • Date: 31st May
    • Venue: The o2

What a way to end the month. Two titans of hard rock sharing the stage for a rocking night in Canary Wharf. How could it get any better? Then why not add Europe into the mix and your chances of rocking out drastically go up.
